What triggers the payment reminder process for an IONITY App/WebApp customer?
- Customer's credit card was successfully pre-authorised for payment and then customer was able to complete a charging session
- However, IONITY could not collect the money from the customer’s bank after it
- This triggers IONITY's payment reminder process to collect the unpaid amount
What triggers the payment reminder process for an IONITY PASSPORT customer?
- Customer gets invoiced on the first of every month for their PASSPORT monthly subscription fee (for example 5.99 EUR or equivalent in other currencies)
- However, the credit card payment for this monthly subscription fee fails
- IONITY receives a declined payment from the customer’s bank
- This triggers IONITY's payment reminder process to collect the unpaid amount
I have received an invoice, why are you telling me I have not paid?
- The invoice gets triggered and sent regardless of whether the credit card payment went through or not
- There are two reasons why the payment may have been rejected by your bank:
- IONITY requested the pre-authorization of 1 EUR before 22.01.2024 and 40 EUR from 22.01.2024 (or equivalent in other currencies). The customer´s bank, authorized this amount and then a charging session was completed. After the session, an adjustment for the final amount was requested. However, some banks might reject the adjustment.
- If you have an IONITY PASSPORT, IONITY charges the monthly fee on the 1st of each month. In some cases, the subscription payment fails, which then triggers the payment reminder.
Why did I receive a payment reminder email for several outstanding payments?
- IONITY initiated the payment reminder process in November 2023 and all outstanding payments between 01 June 2023 and November 2023 have been summarised in one payment reminder.
- In future, each failed payment will be processed within 1 week.
Are there any other options to make the payment besides a bank transfer?
- Currently, the only option is to make the outstanding payments via a bank transfer. You will find all the details required for the bank transfer in the payment reminder email/PDF.
- Besides regular bank transfers, you can also use PayPal, Wise and other payment apps to make the bank transfer.
Can I pay in another currency?
- The payment must be made to the country-specific bank account in the local currency in which the charging process took place. Please note that IONITY cannot make any exceptions to this for tax reasons. Thank you for your understanding.
How long do I have before I have to pay the pending amount?
- The date by which you need to make the payment is indicated in the PDF that is included in your email reminder.
What happens if I do not make the outstanding payments?
- You will receive a second reminder by email with an additional processing fee added (3 EUR or equivalent in other currencies).
- If you still do not pay, IONITY reserves the right to take legal action.
